The story of The Family Man Season 2 moves forward from the first season. After the gas incident in Delhi, the team of Shrikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee) is shattered. An innocent boy is killed by the bullet of Shrikant who went in search of a terrorist in Kashmir. The agency hides the matter by declaring the deceased boy as a terrorist. But this thing goes home in the mind of Shri. Due to guilt, he joins an IT company by giving a designation from Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC).
Two of his team members Milind (Sunny Hinduja) and Zoya (Shreya Dhanwantri) are also on break after getting injured in the gas incident. Only JK Talpade (Sharib Hashmi) is working for the agency. Through him, Shrikant keeps getting information about the activities of the Task (TASC).
Meanwhile, TASC is sent to Chennai on a special mission. There the Sri Lankan government-in-exile is tasked with apprehending Subbu, the younger brother of Prime Minister Bhaskaran, as well as preventing a possible attack on the Prime Minister. JK leads this mission, but Subbu dies in a bomb blast in police custody.
Here, Srikkanth makes a lot of efforts to save his family, but his relationship with his wife Shuchi does not go well. Troubled by the family, Srikkanth joins TASC back after learning about the Chennai mission. He is given the responsibility of the mission. On the other hand, Subbu’s brother Bhaskaran, after his death, is planning a major attack in India with the leader of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, Sameer Khan.
Mumbai and Delhi are the stops in this story journey from Lanka to London, but Chennai is the battlefield. Here terrorists and insurgents face the brave officers of Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell. Meanwhile, inputs are received that Bhaskaran and Sajid are planning to assassinate Prime Minister Basu (Seema Biswas) together. In the entire web series, there are three parallel stories going on simultaneously, which are joined together after a time.
The first story is of Tamil rebels, the second is of the nefarious conspiracies of the ISI and the third is of Srikkanth’s family life. Why do Sri Lankan Tamil rebels want to assassinate the Indian Prime Minister? Does TASC succeed in its mission this time? What is the role of Srikkanth’s family this time? To answer these questions, you have to watch the web series.
The Family Man 2 review
The second season of The Family Man is 413 minutes (6 hours and 53 minutes), divided into 9 episodes. The first two episodes are long, the latter 30 to 45 minutes. Producers of the show Raj & DK along with co-director Suparn Verma have treated every episode as a new sub-plot. It has an unmatched confluence of thrill, drama, humor and action.
There is a climax in every episode, which is woven in such a way that after watching the audience will be forced to press their fingers under their teeth. The script is written in such a way that it is difficult to lose sight of it for a minute. Sometimes, in an episode, one has to rewind to understand the next few scenes. How an officer fights on two sensitive fronts like family and country, it has been shown well through the character of Shrikant.
The sixth episode of this season is the best. This can be called the best episode of The Family Man so far. From the sixth to the ninth episode, the audience will be watching the series for a moment without blinking. It is full of humor along with thrill and suspense. Srikanth’s humorous dialogues and witty one-liners with his friend JK and son Atharv make you laugh.
Cameron Eric Bryson’s cinematography is good. The camera moves according to the story. The action sequences are well choreographed. Be it the entire sequence chasing Raazi in the narrow streets or shoot outs or action sequences, the action sequences are real and leave a deep impression. Heavy-duty climaxes should be watched not only for action scenes but also for camera work.
Manoj Bajpayee is a great actor, people were waiting for the second season of The Family Man for Shrikant Tiwari, it is known to all. But Samantha Akkineni will give life to her character in such a way that no one even imagined it. From a simple girl to a Tamil rebel, the character has lived to such an extent that due to his performance, Manoj appears to be standing parallel to Bajpayee.
Priyamani also got this opportunity in the first season, but despite good acting, she could not achieve this stature. In the role of a friend, Sharib Hashmi is freezing in this season as well. Her chemistry with Manoj is looking cool. Artists like Darshan Kumar, Seema Vishwas, Sunny Hinduja, Ashlesha Thakur and Vedant Sinha have made their small roles big on the basis of their acting.
Despite so many good things in this web series, there is one biggest drawback, which knocks from the first to the last episode. The first episode begins with Sri Lanka, where the entire story runs in Tamil for the first 10 minutes.
Even after this, in order to make the show look natural, so many long dialogues have been shown in Tamil and English that the Hindi-speaking audience does not even have a foothold. Because of this, many scenes start looking very boring.
Perhaps the makers know Tamil and English well, so they could not pay attention to this aspect. Although the subtitles are given in Hindi and English, but it is difficult for the people of Hindi belt that the scene gets missed in the process of understanding the subtitles. Overall, The Family Man Season 2 is a great web series.
