To maintain the chair in the family, Gangaram ensures his wife (housewife Vimaladevi, played by Nimrat Kaur) as CM in his absence. Initially reluctant to get his hands dirty in the hazy world of politics, the wife suddenly falls in love with him after having tasted power and fame. Vimaladevi no longer wants to play the second fiddle and prefers to address Gangaram’s ring as ‘the CM’s husband’.

Unaware of his wife’s overnight political ambitions, Gangaram is also taken into custody by jail superintendent Jyoti Deswal (Yami Gautam Dhar), who reminds him that he is illiterate. The feudal officer refused to give special treatment to the privileged politician.

Reluctant at first, she encourages him to study in prison because there is no greater eye-opener than education and knowledge. The story is largely inspired by former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala.

It’s never too late to learn something new. No matter how embarrassing or challenging it may be, starting from nowhere, no matter how late, is all about being successful. Director Tushar Jalota has tried to explore this idea through his 2-hour film. The intent is true and the performance is honest, however, the setting and the way of storytelling get too far-fetched and sarcastic to keep you engaged.

Everyone behaves as if they are in a poorly scripted drama that relies heavily on coercive humor. That is not to say that the dialogues are not effective enough. Some lines are smart. “If the mall is built, then the goods will come. Unemployment will increase if the school is built. But sharp intelligence is few and far between.
